EXCURSIONS

* BATH MARSH.- In addition to walking or biking you can practice fishing from the shore or from a boat without a gasoline engine

* GRANADILLA.- 22Km from Baños is possibly the most beautiful abandoned town in Spain
Throughout the length and breadth of Spanish geography we find dozens of abandoned towns. Some of them due to the emigration of its inhabitants in search of better opportunities, others simply due to the construction of swamps or reservoirs. The latter was the case of Granadilla, an old medieval fief located in the north of the province of Cáceres that was left uninhabited in the 1960s by the construction of the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir.
Due to its medieval character and the natural environment that surrounds it, Granadilla is possibly one of the most beautiful abandoned towns in Spain.

* HERVAS.- 7Km from Baños. It is one of the towns that you should take into account when organizing a trip through the province of Cáceres. Part of its attraction is hidden in its medieval old town and in its Jewish quarter formed by a set of precious alleys, so well preserved that they invite us to fly to ancient times. Prepare the camera to immortalize those narrow and steep crossings, those half-timbered houses with wooden beams and tiles, those traces of his Jewish past (David-"-s crosses, menorhs), those squares where you will almost always find a fountain and those aromas. Hervás is a destination for quiet walks. And for intense flavors.

* ABBEY.- 13km from Baños.
It is believed that primitive towns lived there, which later became a Roman villa. (There are those who say that Hannibal passed through it when he marched on Salamanca) later a Berber settlement, the Temple Order must have had a commission. In the 12th century it passed into the hands of the Cister and later to the Lordship of Granadilla. This is the moment when the abbey is transformed into a palace and becomes a hunting and recreation place for kings and nobles. Sotofermoso - Coto Hermoso
But in the history of Abadía, the Treaty of Las Mesta and the creation of the Cañada Real that the town crosses have a special relevance. Well, in this place, a Royal Port is created, a collection place for its use. A kind of toll is charged for each head of cattle passed to the ranchers. These incomes were a strong income for the feudal lords and the crown.
